St. Louis Community College gets federal stimulus money to train students in brownfield cleanup

St. Louis Community College in Missouri has been selected by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to receive $500,000 in federal stimulus money to train students in the methods used to uncluttered up brownfield sites. The half million dollars in funding will allow the college to train 120 students, graduate 102 students as well as provide job placement for at least 77 students in environmental technician jobs as well as other green jobs.

Students in the training program will total 240 hours of hazardous bodily training as well as remediation techniques. Graduates of the program will earn training certifications in Occupational Safety as well as Health Administration (OSHA) safety, hazardous waste operations as well as emergency response, weatherization, mold remediation, ecosystem restoration as well as lead as well as asbestos abatement.
