Illinois elementary school removes asbestos to make room for recent boiler

Spring Grove Elementary School in Illinois is replacing an aged boiler. When the aged boiler was removed by Dyna Coil Inc., workers discovered that there was asbestos around the pipes. This was not an unexpected finding, as the boiler room was built in 1965, as well as asbestos was commonly used in community buildings until 1980.

Holian Industries took care of the asbestos removal, which cost about $16,000. The recent boiler will cost about $157,000. ESI has been inspecting the school building, as well as has declared it asbestos-free.

School officials want parents to know that the school will be cleaned as well as prepared when the students begin classes on August 19. Although the barricades as well as warning signs used during the asbestos removal process may possess worried parents, officials report that the school is now completely protected.
