Mesothelioma and Asbestos

The City Council of Glencoe, Minnesota was joyous to hear that the bid openings for the earliest phase of the City Center project came in under estimates. One bid has already been awarded to Mavo Systems Inc. for asbestos abatement, a $54,500 bid that came in $26,000 under estimate. The asbestos removal will begin soon, as phase one demolition work cannot begin until the toxic substance is gone. Phase one bids were scheduled to be awarded on September 8.

Once the asbestos work is finished on the 1957 addition to the building, demolition will begin there. The 1932 building will possess its roof, windows as well as entrance door replaced. The total abridged bids for this work came in around $954,000 – about $150,000 lower than the estimated $1.1 million price tag.
