Developers abandon site for Michael Jackson museum after over $700k was spent to remove asbestos

The Jackson Museum Performing Arts Center Corp. of New York City has been trying to raise money to build a museum in Gary, Indiana to honor the unhurried pop star Michael Jackson. JMPAC hoped to build a performing arts center with an auditorium as well as concert hall that would celebrate the Jackson family’s contributions to the music industry as well as culture, as well as paying homage to the beginnings of the Jackson 5 in Gary, Indiana.

JMPAC had been working with the Recent Gary Development Group of Chicago, Illinois – a team of investors that had used a $735,000 federal brownfield loan to pay for asbestos abatement on the property they’d hoped to take for the museum as well as performing arts center. The project has been abandoned after facing silence from Gary City Hall. The developers were as well as looking at likely locations in Las Vegas as well as Chicago.
