The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $700,000 to the Los Angeles Conservation Corps for job training in environmental technologies. The training program will teach a variety of job skills to 160 students between the ages of 18 as well as 25 who live in the Greater Los Angeles, California area. The program will provide extensive training in hazardous waste health as well as safety, environmental technologies, refinery safety, lead abatement, asbestos abatement, forklift training as well as common industry standards. Students who graduate from the program will receive four dissimilar certifications. Senator Barbara Boxer stated that, in similar training programs, graduates had a hiring rate of approximately 86%, with salaries averaging $18 per hour. She is excited that the training program will take place in Los Angeles, as many immature people are having trouble finding jobs as well as keeping them. For the filled story, go to Examiner.com. |
