Air sample tests negative after asbestos found in Groton Municipal Building

Utility crews were working in the basement of the Municipal Building in Groton, Connecticut when they accidentally chipped off some bodily coating one of the overhead I-beams. The workers west the area as well as closed it off as a precaution. When samples of the chipped bodily were collected as well as analyzed, it was determined that the bodily was a form of asbestos. Air quality tests came back negative, confirming that the air was protected to breathe. Asbestos is a toxic substance that was commonly used in insulation as well as construction materials for many years. Asbestos exposure can lead to a number of humorless illnesses similar mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer.
