While classes were out for the summer, progress was made on the Memorial Student Center (MSC) Renovation as well as Expansion Project at Texas A&M. Vaughn Construction took over the project on August 17, requiring students to temporarily forget about traditions similar removing their hats when entering the building as well as not walking on the grass. Rocklike hats will be required in order to enter the building, which will not be unfastened to students again until 2012. Asbestos abatement is currently using place, as the toxic bodily was in ordinary take when the MSC was originally built in the 1950s, as well as more was added during renovations that took place in the 1970s. The asbestos must be removed before demolition can begin. Pictures of the renovation project’s progress will be available online, as well as students are asked to make the best of the temporary inconvenience.
