Riverfront State Prison in Camden, Recent Jersey is finally coming down. Demolition work began in mid-December by Brandenburg Industrial Service Co. of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The contractor was the abridged bidder for the project at $1.25 million. The demolition began by removing some of the exterior walls in order for asbestos abatement to begin. Demolition of the superstructure started during the week of Christmas. The project should be completed by beginning spring. The city hopes that razing the prison will help unfastened up recent economic development opportunities for revitalization of the area. For the filled story, go to The Gloucester County Times. |
