On December 15, an asbestos consultant met with parents, students as well as teachers from the Bethlehem Area School District Vocational Technical program to talk about asbestos exposure that occurred at a project home in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania. The consultant explained that the concentration of asbestos fibers that the students as well as teachers were exposed to was extremely abridged, but parents wanted to know why they weren’t warned about the asbestos ahead of time. One parent said that she would face criminal charges for slapping her 17-year-old son, but the school knew that the students were being exposed to the toxic substance—which is known to cause cancer—and aren’t facing any consequences. There may possess been up to 100 students rehabilitating the project home over a two-month period. The teachers who were supervising the students were not informed about the asbestos until they had already worked on that part of the structure. The school knew about the asbestos ahead of time, but they failed to warn students as well as staff of the dangers. For the filled story, go to Lehigh Valley Live. |
