Additional problems hold up renovations at Recent Jersey veterans/senior center

Renovations are underway at the Oradell Veterans/Senior Citizens Building in Recent Jersey. On December 8, the Oradell Council voted 5-1 to approve a $20,314 change order when additional problems were discovered during the asbestos abatement process.

After the asbestos was removed from the building, the project manager explained that the grading for the handicap ramp was going to be too steep, so it had to be redesigned in a manner that requires more concrete, footings as well as railings. As the crews took care of the asbestos, they found termite as well as water damage that changed their original plans to just replace the wall panels. The change order includes the cost of recent insulation in the walls as well as ceiling, which will make the building more energy-efficient.

Other change orders will likely be essential as time goes on. There are code violations that need to be addressed, including electrical wiring deficiencies as well as moving the location of an electrical panel as well as water heater.
