Mesothelioma and Asbestos

Two buildings in Clemson, South Carolina are being demolished to make way for the recent Clemson Area Transit (CAT) facility. The buildings were over 50 years aged, so they required asbestos abatement before demolition work could begin. Asbestos is a known carcinogen that was commonly used in building materials until the 1970s.

S&ME conducted asbestos monitoring at a cost of $2,500, as well as S.H. Carter was awarded the demolition bid for $16,100. The bids came in more than $6,000 under budget. Construction bids possess not yet been awarded for the recent $2.5 million green facility, but the construction work should begin in April.
