Tennessee brake pad plant is coming down

Honeywell International owns the former Bendix Brake factory in Cleveland, Tennessee. Demolition has begun at the former brake pad manufacturing plant, as well as the project is expected to be completed in the spring. The aged factory is being dismantled as a brownfield site, as asbestos contamination from the manufacturing of brake pads has made the site unusable. Air monitoring will be conducted on site to ensure that government standards are met for air quality during the remediation process. Full-time security will be existing throughout the demolition to protect the community.  Officials are excited about expected prospects for the building site, as it is located on a coveted railroad spur.
