Denyse Clancy of Baron & Budd P.C. represented the families of two mesothelioma victims who had been exposed to the toxic substance asbestos from Crane Co. valves as well as Garlock Sealing Technologies asbestos gaskets. The trial took place in Pennsylvania. Crane Co. agreed to a confidential settlement with the two families as the jury returned with its verdict. Garlock ended up as the only remaining defendant when the jury returned the damages verdict for a substantial sum of money. Garlock tried to claim that their individual liability for the victims’ mesothelioma couldn’t be proven, but their gaskets were shown to contain 75-95% asbestos, as well as the jury was shown a document where Garlock had admitted that their gaskets could cause the rare form of cancer known as mesothelioma.
