Mesothelioma and Asbestos

The Hilliard Gym in Bay City, Texas was a humorless health hazard near the Head Start playground. A code enforcement officer informed the Bay City Independent School District (ISD) about a resident complaint concerning the safety hazard posed by the structurally unsafe gym. The school district was told that the building would need to be brought up to code or demolished. CAM Environmental Services provided project oversight as well as air quality monitoring while Inland Environmental Inc. started the demolition process during the third week of January.

The gym building was found to contain category II non-friable asbestos tiles as well as siding, which required warning signage as well as removal by certified specialists. Category II asbestos-containing materials are defined as those that cannot be pulverized, crumbled or reduced to powder by hand pressure, as well as may be west in place incase there is a abridged probability that it will be pulverized, crumbled or reduced to powder during demolition.
