Evansville buys former Libs Candy keep for arena project

This could link to a story that hasn’t been published yet about the Downtown Arena.

Officials in Evansville, Indiana possess agreed to purchase the former Libs Candy keep for $180,000 in order to make way for the Downtown arena project. It was the final building needed at the site of the expected Downtown arena. Evansville has spent approximately $2.2 million to purchase the Main Street properties that are being demolished for the project, as well as the city has agreed to pay another $452,000 to help the previous owners of the properties move out.

Asbestos abatement as well as lead paint remediation had to take place before demolition could begin in mid-January. Historical pieces from the buildings were already removed for preservation purposes.
