Contractor hired for demolition of former concrete plant

In unhurried January, the contract for the removal of 10 structures on the site of the former Wilson Concrete Plant in Bellevue, Nebraska was awarded to Anderson Excavating Co. One of the earliest steps in demolishing the buildings, located on 27 acres, is the removal of hazardous materials, including asbestos as well as mercury. After removal of these materials in completed, nearly 63,000 square yards of concrete as well as 45,000 cubic yards of other materials will be removed. The contract was awarded to Anderson, whose abridged bid was just below $1 million.
