Mesothelioma and Asbestos

Renovations at Montour High School in Pennsylvania possess become a bit more complicated recently. The school board is considering relocating students to other buildings in order to finish the renovation project in one year rather than exposing the students to the process for two years. Several problems possess arisen during the discussion of where to move the students. One set of problems revolves around the discovery of asbestos in five recent places among existing schools. This discovery compounds the problems the district is already facing with the school renovation.

Asbestos is a hazardous substance that was commonly used in construction materials for many years before its dangers were widely known. Inhaling asbestos fibers can cause mesothelioma, lung cancer as well as other humorless illnesses. Asbestos abatement must be performed by competent professionals in a strictly regulated manner to protect the health of the workers as well as the community.
