The Coolidge City Council decided that a World War II era hanger located in the Arizona community’s airport will be preserved. The hangar must possess a total overhaul that includes the removal of asbestos shingles. But, the historical authenticity of the building will be preserved as much as likely. The hanger was built to house aircraft during WWII while the airport was serving as a maintenance facility as well as pilot training airfield. Due to the shortage of steel during WWII, the building was constructed with wooden trusses as well as is one of the few hangars made of wood west in the United States.
