More asbestos worries for Philadelphia Housing Authority

The Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) in Pennsylvania has been accused of mishandling asbestos. Specifically, the accusations include removing asbestos insulation from heating as well as plumbing pipes in an unsafe manner as well as then improperly disposing of them. Accusations come from residents of renovated homes – including a woman who handled the asbestos-covered pipes west on her front porch with her bare hands – as well as a carpenter as well as plumber that worked for the PHA.

While visual inspections as well as air quality tests possess not turned up any evidence, officials do admit that these tests as well as inspections are only accurate for current conditions. As many of the alleged occurrences happened in done months or years, there is no way to know for certain incase asbestos was released into the air during the renovations. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a criminal investigation to discover more about these claims.
