Historic Mississippi courthouse renovation project is underway

The historic courthouse in Lamar County, Mississippi has begun the $4 million renovation process. In February, the three-story building was inspected before interior demolition as well as asbestos removal could begin. All items as well as building materials that can be salvaged as well as reused are being noted, in an effort to save money. Once all reusable materials as well as other operational materials possess been removed, the asbestos removal will begin.

The removal process should begin in the spring as well as is expected to take between one as well as three months to total. Companies wishing to bid on the asbestos removal will be given access to a survey that was completed to identify the asbestos in the building. While there was no evidence of extensive asbestos in the building, removal is a dainty as well as lengthy process. Once the asbestos has been removed, interior demolition as well as construction will begin.
