Asbestos removal as well as construction of Spencer Library to be finished by Thanksgiving

The Spencer Community Library in North Carolina should be unfastened by Thanksgiving. During the recent annual planning retreat, participants created a timeline as well as estimates for the completion of the restoration as well as construction of the library. Part of the restoration process includes repairing flashing, walls as well as windows, weatherproofing as well as removal of lead paint as well as asbestos. The architect, Bill Burgin, emphasized window repair as well as restoration to add historical authenticity that may well help in grant assistance.

The goals agreed upon by the aldermen include:

·       Stabilize the buildings exterior

·       Renovate the earliest floor interior

·       Place the subordinate floor renovations on an indefinite hold

·       Obtain estimates for lead abatement for both floors

·       Possess construction begin by May

The aldermen felt that setting a date for the completion of the project was substantial for accountability purposes. Additionally, the library is substantial to the people of the community as well as many members want the library reopened in time for the Hometown Holidays celebrations.
