Developer has restoration plan for Hangar One

Real estate developer Eddie Orton, president of Orton Development, has proposed to restore as well as refurbish Moffett Field’s Hangar One located in Mountainview, California. The historic building has gone unused for many years following the discovery of asbestos fibers as well as dust from aged siding. NASA owns the historic landmark as well as plans to remove the toxic siding in November. Renovation plans, including proposed take as an airship research facility for the Department of Defense (DOD), possess not received funding. Orton intends to commercialize the enormous space, with a museum, offices as well as meeting rooms as well as a community venue tentatively included in building plans. Orton’s vision represents a significant change to the architecture of the building while paying tribute to the historical value of the property.
