Gig Harbor replacing asbestos pipes

Harborview Drive in Gig Harbor, Washington is undergoing a renovation project to replace 330 feet of asbestos cement water main between Soundview Drive as well as Pioneer Way. The recent pipes are expected to final for about 50 years. The aged pipes possess ruptured in several locations recently, moving replacement to the top of the city priority list.

The project is expected to take about three weeks as well as begins on Monday. Streets will be closed to traffic as well as parking during construction hours, which will final from midnight to about 10:00 am for minimal disruption of area businesses. This project isn’t part of the larger $1.9 million asbestos cement water main replacement project slated to begin later in the year. Bids for the larger project will be accepted in June, with construction expected to begin in July.
