Mesothelioma and Asbestos

The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) supports Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee as well as his cosponsors for introducing HR 1138 to declare the earliest week of April National Asbestos Awareness Week. The goal of National Asbestos Awareness Week is to raise community awareness of the dangers of asbestos exposure as well as the prevalence of asbestos-related diseases similar mesothelioma.

Cosponsors as well as supporters of the resolution include Representative Raul Grijalva of Arizona, Representative Lois Capps of California, Representative Gwen Moore of Wisconsin as well as Representative Betty Sutton of Ohio. Cohen as well as his fellow supporters are all democrats.

The ADAO is grateful that members of the U.S. House of Representatives are interested in raising community awareness about asbestos. It is estimated that 100,000 workers around the world will die of asbestos-related diseases in the next decade – approximately 30 deaths per day.
