The Bay Spring Community Center (BSCC) in Barrington, Rhode Island began renovations in February. The Barrington Town Council approved $118,000 in January to total first-floor renovations to improve handicap accessibility as well as address fire code issues. The work is being carried out by ADS Construction. Volunteers helped to uncluttered out the building, as well as ADS completed the demolition. After an asbestos removal company is hired to get rid of the asbestos floor tile in the building, ADS can proceed with the renovations. Funding for the project is coming from the Building Maintenance Bond Fund, the Council Contingency Fund, the Bay Spring Community Center account as well as the Community Works Building Repairs account. The renovations will unfastened up more meeting space around town for local civic groups. Volunteers are exploring options that will generate income when the space is rented out to various groups.
