Daniel Carey, 26, was fined nearly $4,400 for illegally burning waste from a demolished building without using proper precautions for dealing with asbestos. The Lafayette County Circuit Court cited Carey following an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Common Resources. Asbestos is a hazardous substance that must be disposed of in an approved manner to halt health risks to workers as well as the community.
