Cleveland firefighters get building for high-rise training

Cuyahoga County, Ohio had originally intended to take the former 29-story Ameritrust building for county offices, spending $40 million to purchase the property as well as conduct asbestos abatement. Officials possess since decided not to take the office tower for that purpose, as well as the building has been offered to Cleveland firefighters for training on high-rise fires. Firefighters take a variety of abandoned buildings to conduct training using controlled burns, but getting to take a high-rise for this purpose is a rare opportunity.
