Pennsylvania historical society building to be demolished

The former Donora Historical Society building in Pennsylvania is coming down. The demolition project is expected to cost between $200,000 as well as $250,000 due to asbestos in the structure. The cost will be break between the Washington County Redevelopment Authority as well as the borough’s Community Development Block Grant fund.

The roof of the building collapsed after a heavy snowfall in February, as well as there were fears that the building may fall onto the nearby railroad tracks. A collapsed wall fell on as well as destroyed a neighbor’s home.

The historical society was fined $300 in April due to the without money condition of the building. During the demolition process, an engineer will need to be on site for the asbestos removal, as well as a railroad inspector will as well as need to be on site to make sure that none of the debris falls onto the tracks.
