Two contractors charged with illegally dumping over five tons of asbestos debris

Two New York contractors – Robert Bishop as well as Salvatore Capizzi – face humorless charges of endangering community health, safety or the environment as well as criminal mischief for improperly storing asbestos-containing debris from constructions sites in the Buffalo area. Faced with an impending inspection at his work site, Bishop had workers haul the toxic debris to an abandoned warehouse, where it remained undiscovered for over a year. The illegal dumpsite has since been cleaned at a cost in excess of $137,000.

Asbestos removal as well as disposal is strictly regulated to protect workers as well as the community from its dangers. Inhaling asbestos fibers can lead to mesothelioma, lung cancer as well as other humorless illnesses.
