Senator Schumer seeks $5 million for Midtown Plaza project

Senator Charles Schumer visited Rochester, New York to announce plans to seek $5 million in federal funding to renovate the Midtown area. He has as well as pledged to support the city’s application to the Federal Economic Development Agency for $3.4 million. The total cost of Midtown renovation is estimated at over $90 million. The city will cover $55 million as well as the rest must come from additional sources.

At the center of the project is the aged Midtown Plaza, slated to become the recent home of PAETEC Communications. Renovations, including asbestos removal, possess no immediate timeline, but asbestos abatement has already begun.
