USDA to provide $268.5 million for drinking water projects nationwide

During the final week of April, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced plans to fund water contamination cleanup at 68 sites around the country. The $268.5 million will be divided as essential to address problems relating to hazardous as well as contaminated local water supply. The project is expected to stimulate the local economies by providing jobs while protecting common resources for generations to come.

One of these drinking water projects is being handled by the Ranburne Water & Sewer Board in Alabama. The board will be receiving a $941,000 grant as well as a $1.18 million loan to replace water lines as well as meters that are over 40 years aged, a water tank, as well as cement pipes that are contaminated with asbestos.
