Schenectady library will stay unfastened during renovations

The Schenectady County Community Library in New York plans to double the size of the children’s wing, add an additional elevator, as well as convert all the restrooms to be handicap accessible. Before the renovations can begin, there must be an abatement procedure to remove asbestos from the basement, the piping as well as the floor tiles. The work will be conducted at night when the library is closed to the community to cause the least likely disruption to library activities. To date, $283,000 has been raised to begin the project, as well as ongoing events are planned to raise the remainder of the needed funds.
