Students decorate North Dakota’s oldest Catholic school before demolition

Before the 80-year-old St. John’s Catholic school in Wahpeton, North Dakota was abandoned, students, former students as well as staff were invited to pick up paint, markers or chalk as well as "leave their mark" by decorating the walls as well as floors with personal artwork.

Fixing the deteriorating school would be extremely costly. The walls were coming apart as well as asbestos under the flooring was damaged as well as would possess to be torn out. The school opted instead to move the students into a recent $3 million building across the street beginning with the fall semester. No plans are currently in place to demolish the aged building.
