Mesothelioma and Asbestos

Lester Mancuso as well as his two sons were sentenced recently for violating asbestos-related environmental laws multiple times. U.S. District Judge Frederick Scullin handed down sentences of 36 months in prison as well as three years of probation for Lester Mancuso; 78 months in prison, three years of probation as well as a $20,000 fine for son Paul Mancuso; as well as 44 months in prison as well as three years of probation for Steven Mancuso.

The brothers were found guilty of conspiring to defraud the United States, violating the Uncluttered Air Act’s asbestos-related regulations, illegally dumping asbestos in Poland, New York as well as committing mail fraud. Lester Mancuso agreed to a plea arrangement on the day before the trial began. A third brother, Ronald Mancuso, cooperated with investigators as well as testified against his family. He was sentenced in a disconnected hearing later in June.

This is Paul Mancuso’s third conviction on similar crimes. Earlier convictions in 2003 as well as 2004 resulted in a court order forbidding him from working in an asbestos-related field. He continued to operate his illegal asbestos operations out of Stephen Mancuso’s law offices.  Stephen Mancuso facilitated his brother’s fraud by falsifying partnership agreements, invoices, records, payroll as well as other documents.
