OSHA conducts asbestos investigation at Holyoke High School

A $22.7 million renovation of Holyoke High School in Holyoke, Massachusetts sparked an anonymous consult to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) about high levels of asbestos. The project manager said that all precautions were used as well as testing was done, but OSHA must investigate all claims. The complaint centered on aged window caulking that a subcontractor had tested rather than report suspicions to the project manager. Documented asbestos abatement as well as testing has been done throughout the project in accordance with the law, as well as licensed companies are doing the work as well as testing, according to Stephen W. Niec, project designer with testing company Forbes & Wheeler Inc.
