Courthouse annex demolition to begin in August following asbestos abatement

The Randall County courthouse in Canyon, Texas was built in 1909, as well as it is undergoing a major restoration. The annex building was added in 1968, as well as will be torn down in keeping with the plan to return the courthouse to its original historic condition. Before the annex can come down, asbestos had to be removed. Demolition is expected to begin this month. The county is primarily using funds seized from alleged illegal gambling as well as drug operations to pay for the renovations.
