During June 13 services at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, part of the plaster ceiling collapsed on parishioners. Twelve parishioners were used to the hospital with head as well as neck injuries, but all were released by the following day. The debris was tested as well as found to contain asbestos, so the church was closed for asbestos removal as well as cleanup. A recent ceiling will be installed before the church can reopen for services. In the meantime, church services will be held elsewhere. For the filled story, go to Hickory Daily Record. |
