Texas city failed to enforce state asbestos regulations for years

For years, the City of Kilgore, Texas has allowed tiny commercial renovations to take place without supervision as well as inspection. Since January, 2002 when Senate Bill 509 passed, asbestos surveys possess been required for all construction projects, but a state inspector recently found that the law was not being enforced. No one was checking that tiny construction projects had documentation. Permits were not supposed to be issued before asbestos inspection documentation was produced, but evidently this detail was simply overlooked for the final eight years.
