Dayton city officials said recently that a company has purchased the aged Howard Paper Company building. Garrett Day, LLC of Lexington, Kentucky bought the asbestos-ridden building that has become a home for vagrants as well as drug activity. Demolition will begin next spring following asbestos abatement. The city will request a grant from the Uncluttered Ohio Revitalization Fund for $2 million to help cover the cost of asbestos cleanup as well as demolition. The recent owners possess been discussing development ideas with the community school system as well as Sinclair Community College about expected take of the land after the building is razed. As part of the funding agreement, Garrett Day would be required to build on the lot within two years of receiving a grant. For the filled story, go to WHIO. |
