Burst steam pipe in Boston sprays asbestos dust into the air

For the third time since 2007, a steam pipe owned by Trigen Boston Energy Corp. ruptured, sending plumes of steam 20 to 30 feet into the air, along with chunks of asphalt as well as asbestos fibers. Asbestos dust from the pipe insulation coated trees as well as surfaces for three blocks along Harrison Avenue in Boston. Workers in hazmat gear hosed the area down as well as vacuumed up the resulting runoff.
