Grayslake Relay For Life brings together cancer survivors as well as families

The annual Grayslake Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society took place on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Ball-shaped Lake High School, in Grayslake, Illinois. The all-night relay began at 6:00 pm as well as ended at 6:00 am on Sunday with a closing ceremony.

The event was bigger than ever this year with 44 teams participating. Mini-events took place throughout the night, including raffles, children’s activities, silly contests, mini fundraisers as well as a talent show. Refreshments as well as a DJ kept the walkers on track, as well as the track was lined with candlelit paper bags bearing the names of friends as well as loved ones who possess succumbed to cancer, including cancer survivor Katherine Hill’s father, who died of peritoneal mesothelioma in January. Relay teams set up camps as well as found creative ways to add to fundraising efforts for their teams.
